OVERVIEW
WideSky is an Australian company delivering IoT solutions for the energy, buildings and industry sectors. The company offers an end-to-end suite of systems designed to provide operational data and advanced analytics for the unique needs of multiple industries.
Through the implementation of WideSky, we aim to unlock the value of customer energy, environmental and building data. Our scalable, intelligent solutions improve profits and sustainability, and the experienced WideSky team offers decades of operational and information technology experience. Coupled with our partner network, we implement future-proofed, well-supported solutions tailored to businesses on a global scale.
THE CHALLENGE
Traditional monitoring and control solutions used in Buildings, Energy, and Industry are usually well suited for their intended purpose. However, modern business processes are becoming data-driven and increasingly require access to more data from multiple subsystems. Traditional solutions are typically ill-equipped for this role. Additionally, expanding data solutions into new or existing assets using traditional cabled solutions is expensive, often limiting access to valuable data.
A new type of solution is required that is capable of meeting these challenges while scaling for businesses of all sizes.

THE PROCESS
To complement our data platform WideSky Cloud, we identified the need for a new integrating device that was wireless and could form part of a reliable and scalable data infrastructure solution. It needed to provide cost-effective and straightforward access to data from a broad range of devices and sensors.
When considering technology options to build this wireless device, it was critical for our customers to retain control of their sensor networks while reducing telco costs. We needed a reliable IP-based wireless network standard that was cost-effective to implement. After prototyping Thread, we determined it met all our criteria while securely enabling device-to-device and device-to-cloud communication.

THE SOLUTION
Driven by these requirements, The WideSky Hub was built to provide easy and economical access to data by forming a long-range wireless mesh network that removes the need for hardwired cables. Seamlessly connect legacy non-IP devices to a Thread Network via the Hub’s onboard serial communications and IO. With features such as data logging, real-time control and OTA updates, it offers the flexibility and reliability to build more efficient data solutions.
When combined with WideSky Cloud, customers have an end-to-end suite of systems designed to securely provide operational data and advanced analytics. The solution integrates all subsystems, devices and sensors into a Project Haystack data model to create a single point of truth for all processes: visualization, reporting, applications and analytics.
Customers are able to securely connect legacy data silos or IoT sensors across the enterprise, perform advanced asset-based analytics, achieve simple data access to your business systems, and even provide tenants with real-time data insights.

Competitive Advantage
The WideSky Hub seamlessly integrates with the company’s suite of products offering customers an end-to-end IoT solution with the following benefits:
